So, why now? What made me even think about adding this topic to my blog?
As many of you may know, there have been some significant changes to our industry. This is also following what many of us have found to be a very challenging yet rewarding last few years in the real estate market.
Many of us use the term “ Covid Market” This was a crazy time when we saw homes going under contract the first day, sometimes with sight unseen offers, WAY over asking price, buyers waiving their home inspections, etc.
So many people on the outside would watch with wonder and say to us “ WOW! You guys must be LOVING this!!!”
Well…….. Not so much. Was the money we all made great? Of course . But as we all know, money isn’t everything.
In the midst of this we also had so many heartbroken buyers miss out on property after property when they had to include financing rather than cash to their offer. We also had homeowners who felt totally overwhelmed when seeing 15 offers come in all with escalation clauses ( spreadsheets created just for this ) I even had moments in the last few years where I literally told buyers to just “ Take a break” so that they could regroup after being outbid 6 times in a row.
Or, making the calls to the 12 agents to tell them that their offer wasn’t chosen. To then receive calls from the buyer's agents screaming on the other end of the call telling you all the things they suspected you did to make an unfair selection . ( One of the many reasons I am and always will be a rule follower and make sure to document EVERYTHING!!!) I did at one point have to tell the agent on the other end of the phone that I would be hanging up unless she could stop screaming at me. She was able to take a breath and get it together.
So, with all of this said, we’ve worked our tails off, seen some crazy things we never thought we would see, and now some agents are finding that things have really quieted down and are truly struggling. Some of us look back and think, “ Was it worth it” ?
These upcoming posts are for all of you.
If I can provide some hope, laughter, and ways to encourage all of us to keep on putting one foot in front of the other, even on the bad days, then creating these posts will be worth it. For all of us who just can’t imagine doing anything else, these are also for you.
One more thing to note is that these posts are not totally selfless. You can ask my husband as he will attest to the fact that I have come home some days and just sit and stare in silence. These are the nights that he will hand me the remote and say “ Hun, you take the remote. You probably want to watch one of your psycho killer Lifetime movies don’t you”? True love I tell you as I certainly know those movies aren’t anyone’s favorite other than mine in this household.
Anything that I write about in this blog post section will be either something that I have struggled with, learned, or might even be presently experimenting with .
Please feel free to reach out if you ever have ideas for what you would like to see mentioned or covered here. Or, if you want to reach out and just say hello that’s ok too !
We are stronger together ……. Always.
